SHAH ALAM, 18 APRIL: Water supply has been fully restored in a total 1,132 areas as of 6am this morning, says Pengurusan Air Selangor (Air Selangor).

Its corporate communication head Abdul Halem Mat Som said water supply to the homes in Kuala Lumpur and the Hulu Selangor district has been fully restored.

The water supply in Petaling, Gombak and Kuala Selangor has reached over 90 per cent of the areas.

“About 87 per cent customers who faced water disruption have their water supply fully restored while another 160 areas are still in the process.

“In Kuala Langat, half of the areas have their water supply restored while Shah Alam reported a 71 per cent restoration,” he said in a statement this morning.

Air Selangor said the restoration of the water supply is expected to fully recover by midnight and water tank trucks will be deployed to the affected area.

Yesterday, several areas were affected by water disruption due to the shut down of four water treatment plants on Thursday night after odour pollution was detected at the raw water source in Sungai Selangor.

The water treatment plants in Sungai Selangor (LRA), Phase 1 (SSP1), Phase 2 (SSP2), Phase 3 (SSP3) and Rantau Panjang were forced to cease operations to flush out the contaminated water downstream of Sungai Selangor.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said fish breeding ponds were found to have been the source of the pollution.
