Enough supplies for Sungai Lui residents, says MB

By Khairul Azran Hussin

BANGI, April 7 — There is sufficient supply of food and essentials for the people of Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat during the ongoing enhanced movement control order (EMCO), says Selangor Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had assured that the current supply of goods would be able to cater some 700 households in the area until April 13, including additional stocks should there be an extension to the enhanced order.

“There is enough supply for both dry and wet foodstuffs, such as chicken and fish, as well as sanitary pads and adult diapers.

“We must agree that our daily routine is not the same as it used to be but what is important is that we have sufficient supply of basic necessities,” he told reporters after visiting the quarantine centre located at the Judicial and Legal Training Institute (ILKAP), here today.

Amirudin also expressed his confidence that the chain of the Covid-19 infection could be broken in Sungai Lui as long as the public continues to observe the EMCO and cooperate with the authorities.

“The number of Covid-19 cases in Singai Liu has been consistent for the past three days and we will monitor the progress in the next few more days.

“The State Health Department has done its part by conducting Covid-19 screenings on the majority of residents here. Let’s hope for a positive outcome,” he said.

The Federal government had enforced the lockdown on seven villages in Hulu Langat effective from March 30 to April 13.

This was following the 71 positive Covid-19 cases identified among 274 residents of the Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah school at Batu 23.
