KAJANG, April 13 — Senior citizens in Hulu Langat are pleased when visited by healthcare workers at their homes for the Covid-19 mass screening exercise.

Sungai Ramal Dalam resident Zubir Hakimi, 67, said he was grateful for the state government’s initiative as the elderly are more susceptible to infections and illnesses.

“I heard many of those infected by Covid-19 are older adults, and in this village, a lot of them are around my age group. It’s scary.

“When the doctors came to do the test, I was very relieved to know that the village community is safe,” he told SelangorKini when met during the Covid-19 large-scale screening operation at the Kampung Sungai Ramal Dalam, yesterday.

Another resident, Azlinah Suman, 43, said her mother had been eagerly waiting for the healthcare workers to visit after the National Security Council made the announcement of the mass screening, on Saturday.

“She could not wait to get the testing done as she is aware that she’s part of the high-risk group. I hope she remains in good health and that the efforts by the state government and the healthcare workers would be successful until the outbreak is over,” she said.

Meanwhile, 68-year-old Fatimah Hassan said she had no fear over the testing as it was done swiftly.

“I was concerned before and had wondered how it would be done, but it was very easy and completed within two minutes. I am pleased to have undergone the screening.

“When the doctors and nurses come to your home to see whether you are doing well or not, we should appreciate that,” she said.

Beginning Saturday, the Covid-19 mass testing operation team, under the coordination of the state government’s company Selcare, had kick-started the community testing in Sungai Ramal, Kajang and Dusun Tua.

On April 8, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that the big-scale screening would be concentrated in the red zones in the state, involving some 5,000 individuals.
