MB: Surge in Covid-19 cases resulted from extended screening

SELAYANG, April 4 — The high number of positive Covid-19 cases in Selangor, which makes it the top in the country,  resulted from the extended screening of the virus, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said although the recorded cases continue to rise, he said the situation is still under control.

“I believe that we will be able to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. That is why in the second phase of the movement order control, I urge for the Selangor people to continue staying at home,” he told the media after distributing aid to the frontliners at the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) here today.

Amirudin also stressed that those who are showing symptoms should seek immediate medical attention and continue to practise personal hygiene habits.

Also present at the event were Gombak district officer Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim, MPS president Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor and MPS chief whip councillor Amir Fazlee Khalid.

As of noon today, Selangor saw an additional 23 positive Covid-19 cases, which brings the tally in the state to 890.

Malaysia has a sum of 3,483 positive cases, with the number of recovery of 915.

The death toll stands at 57.
