Selangor XTIV Virtual E-Sports 2020 offers RM250,000 in cash prizes

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — The Selangor government, in collaboration with the Selangor Esports Association, is organising the inaugural Selangor XTIV Virtual E-Sports 2020 (SXVE20) from today until December 31 offering RM250,000 in cash prizes.

Selangor Youth, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the first phase of the online tournament, featuring the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), PUBG Mobile, FIFA 20, PES 20 and Dota, would end on May 31.

He said the tournament aimed to, among others, encourage beneficial activities as well as to inculcate the spirit of solidarity among youths in line with the call to “Stay at Home” by authorities in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“The SXVE20, which is divided into three categories — Under-12, Under-18 and Open — is the Selangor government’s initiative to encourage the active participation of the public, especially youths, in carrying out useful activities at home during the movement control order (MCO) period.

“The tournament, which is targeting more than 100,000 entries, emphasises the development of e-sports at the grassroots level by providing an opportunity for more new talents, especially amateur teams nationwide,” he said in a statement today.

Those interested in joining the tournament can get more information and register on the official Selangor XTIV Virtual E-Sports 2020 Facebook page.
