Seven new Covid-19 cases, no Malaysian infected locally

SHAH ALAM, June 9 — Seven new Covid-19 cases were recorded today, involving six imported cases and one foreign worker.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 281 patients have fully recovered and were discharged from hospital, which is the highest number of recovery recorded to date.

“This is the highest daily recovery the country has ever registered. The single local transmission involved a foreigner. No Malaysian was infected locally and this is an achievement to be proud of,” he told a daily Covid-19 briefing in Putrajaya today.

The total number of infections in the country stands at 8,336.

Dr Noor Hisham said no new fatalities were reported with the death toll remaining at 117, or 1.4 per cent out of the total cases.

Six people are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with one patient requiring respiratory aid.
