133 frontliners in Selangor received childcare incentive

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, July 2 — A total of 133 parents who are working in the frontline has received the state government’s Childcare Incentive for Children of the Covid-19 Frontliners involving a total amount of RM63,000 to date.

The Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) said the recipients include 88 healthcare workers, police (21), Civil Defense Force or ‘Jabatan Pertahanan Awam’ (15), and Social Welfare Department (9).

“Yesterday (July 1) was the last day to apply for the incentive programme, which was opened since April 20. We have received a total 1,419 applications and are currently reviewing it.

“The programme was supposed to end earlier but it was extended as we understand that many of the frontliners were facing a challenging time in battling the Covid-19 outbreak,” said Yawas assistant corporate manager Sharizan Mohd Shariff told SelangorKini today.

The incentive was previously announced in the state’s second economic stimulus package on April 1, the Selangor Cares Package 2.0, with a total allocation of RM1.5 million.

Under the programme, each child will receive RM150 for the month of March and April.
