Paradigm Mall, 1 Utama confirms staff positive for Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — The management of two shopping centres in Selangor have confirmed yesterday that one of its staff was tested positive for Covid-19.

Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya in a statement said that the staff at its outlet was infected by his roommate, who does not work at the mall but had recently returned from Sabah and was Covid-19 positive.

The staff was said to have only reported to work on October 2 and had not shown any symptoms.

“The staff was contacted and notified by the Health Ministry that his roommate had tested positive for Covid-19.

“He then applied for medical leave commencing from October 3 to undergo testing himself and did not report to work nor entered the mall since last reporting to work on Friday,” the statement read.

The shopping mall had temporarily closed down immediately for disinfection according to the Health Ministry’s guidelines.

Meanwhile, 1 Utama shopping centre in Bandar Utama had also recorded one Covid-19 case involving one staff at a service centre.

The management of the shopping mall in a statement said that premises located on Level 2 of the complex to be closed immediately for the disinfection process.

“The said staff has not stepped into our mall premise since clocking out from work on 30 September, with his off day on October 1.

“This is the first-ever isolated case to happen in 1 Utama since the Covid-19 outbreak this year and we are honestly quite devastated to receive the news despite our very best efforts to keep the coronavirus away,” the statement read.
