SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — Selangor has today recorded a significant drop in new Covid-19 cases with 115 local infections, compared to yesterday’s record-high 1,623 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said the state had registered three imported transmissions.
“Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest number of cases with 318 cases. This is followed by Sabah with 293 cases and Selangor at 115,” he said during a press conference on the Covid-19 developments in the country, in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor Hisham said out of the 115 new cases reported in Selangor today, 63 were from existing clusters, 23 cases from close-contact screenings, four cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), and 22 others from other Covid-19 screenings.
He said a new cluster was detected, the Gangsa Cluster, which saw 23 new cases.
“The Gangsa Cluster involves the Kuala Langat district in Selangor. The index case, being case 56,262, was from a workplace screening on November 23.
“To date, 78 individuals from the cluster have been screened, whereby 30 cases were tested positive for Covid-19 in this cluster, which includes a Malaysian and 29 others are non-citizens,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to the data by the Selangor State Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Klang district still records the highest new daily infections with 33 cases, followed by Kuala Langat (29), Petaling (25), Hulu Langat (12), Hulu Selangor (4), Gombak (4), Sepang (3) and Kuala Selangor (2).
Sabak Bernam still remains a green zone in Selangor with no new infections.
As of noon today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 12,693 out of the nationwide total so far of 59,817 cases.
