Six new Covid-19 clusters detected — Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — The Health Ministry (MOH) today detected six new Covid-19 clusters involving Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor and Putrajaya.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Nahaba cluster was detected in Kota Belud, Sabah, with 25 positive cases thus far.

“The index case for this cluster (the 35,808th case) was identified based on screening results on Nov 4.

“All those who tested positive have been admitted to the Seri Bayu Pirasan Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre in Kota Belud,” he said at a media conference on Covid-19 today.

On the second cluster, namely Numbak cluster that was detected in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Dr Noor Hisham said it involved the index case (the 22,036th case) who tested positive from a screening during admission to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on October 17.

“Screenings of close contacts detected another seven Covid-19 positive cases,” he said.

In Selangor, Dr Noor Hisham said the Perigi cluster was detected in Klang, which had recorded 39 positive cases thus far.

The case was identified through a workplace screening on October 15.

Other new clusters detected include the Seri Terapi cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and Alor Gajah district in Melaka.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case (case number 36,180) was identified as Covid-19 positive based on a screening on November 3 and the patient was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Close contact screenings detected another 11 positive cases. Till today, a total of 126 individuals have been screened with 12 Covid-19 positive results, eight individuals negative and 106 individuals still waiting for their results,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said the Padang cluster involving the Kota Tinggi district was detected based on a screening on November 5, and that the patient has been admitted to Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Kluang.

“Till today, 338 individuals have been screened with four Covid-19 positive cases found, 173 individuals testing negative and 160 individuals still waiting for their results,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Harmoni cluster was detected in Putrajaya based on a workplace screening on November 7.

He said the Covid-19 positive patient was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital and close contact screenings found another five positive cases, while 28 individuals tested negative and 17 individuals are still waiting for their results.

In addition, Dr Noor Hisham announced that the Bah Perdana cluster in Putrajaya ended today. No deaths were reported for the cluster.
