SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — A total of 100 participants of the Roda Darul Ehsan (RiDE) initiative received their motorcycle licence subsidy from Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari at the State Secretary building here today.

Amirudin said they are among the 1,980 beneficiaries of the initiative since it was launched on August 1.

“The initiative can spur youths’ interest to join the delivery-based businesses, especially since the Covid-19 outbreak.

“With the expansion of the sharing economy market, RiDE presents an opportunity for the Selangor youths to venture into this field,” he said during the RiDE Initiative presentation ceremony.

RiDE targets 3,000 urban poor youth to receive B2 motorcycle licence subsidy worth RM350.

Apart from that, the state government also funds e-hailing courses worth RM150 with the
Selangor Digital E-Supply Chain (Seldec), BungkusIt, Zepto Express, Warong Rider and Foodpanda as well as Social Security Organisation (Socso) contribution of RM70 per year.

The programme will continue next year with an allocation of RM2 million.
