SHAH ALAM, Jan 20 — The Selangor Covid-19 Fund has been reactivated today to aid the efforts of fighting against the pandemic.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said to kick-start the fund, he is donating his one-month salary and had welcomed corporations and subsidiaries of government-linked companies (GLC) to contribute.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah), this morning the state government has received RM2.3 million in donation for the fund,” said Amirudin during the special announcement of the Kita Selangor Package.

He said the state government will also be moving ahead with salary cuts involving state executive councillors, state assemblymen and high-ranking executives of GLCs to channel financial support to the fund.

The move, he said, is part of the state government’s approach to solutions which uses the ‘whole of government and whole of society’ approach.

Last year, the state government received RM9.3 million which was specifically used for the work of frontliners and the medical field to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Kita Selangor Package which is valued at RM73.877 million is aimed at reducing the people’s burden through various initiatives in light of the movement control order (MCO) 2.0.

The plan is part of the state administration’s effort to fight the coronavirus outbreak and stimulate the economy of Selangor, including providing help to affected groups of the society.
