SUNGAI BULOH, Jan 11 — The Selangor Xtiv Virtual will continue in 2021 with a targeted participation of 300,000 people from across the country.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the decision was made following the positive response from last year’s event, which recorded over 180,000 participants since it was launched in May 2020.

“This year, we want to expand the programme to the suburban areas and help the youths in generating income through sports, especially during the movement control order period (MCO),” said Mohd Khairuddin.

The online event includes the Selangor Xtiv Virtual e-Sport, Selangor Xtiv Virtual Run, Selangor Martial Art Xtiv, Selangor Xtiv Fifa Pro Club and the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Youth Busking.

As the only state that had succeeded in organising a large-scale virtual sports competition, the programme also received the recognition of the National Sports Council.

The state-led activity had also attracted international participants from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, India and the United States.
