PETALING JAYA, March 28 — The pipes maintenance work that will cause scheduled water disruption starting Tuesday is expected to be completed sooner than expected, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said it was due to previous efforts done by Pengurusan Air Selangor (Air Selangor) that enabled it to complete works earlier than the set date.

“For the people’s benefit, we will speed up this maintenance work. If it starts early, then the repair work will be able to be completed earlier. Thus enabling water supply to continue to be distributed to the people.

“This is based on previous experiences, if there are no problems, we will start early and be able to complete the repair faster,” he said at the Jasamu Dikenang, Budimu Disanjung ceremony at Sunway Hotel Spa, here last night.

Amirudin explained that the repair work which will interrupt supply in some areas in the Klang Valley is a scheduled water disruption.

“I am sure the public has taken note of this matter earlier, but the community needs to know that this maintenance work needs to be done because we want to ensure that after this there will be no more water supply disruption for a longer period.

“Its implementation is also to ensure the comfort of the people,” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that 89 areas in the Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang and Shah Alam districts will experience scheduled water disruptions between 48 to 68 hours starting March 30 and April 6.

This is due to scheduled maintenance works for several key assets of Air Selangor this year.
