Selcare: Artificial intelligence used to trace Covid-19 hotspots

By Mustakim Ramli

KUALA SELANGOR, March 22 — The locations of the free Covid-19 community screening operations in Selangor are determined by making use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said the method is used to identify Covid-19 hotspots where a high number of coronavirus cases have been reported in an area.

“Based on AI, we are able to forecast that the area would be seeing an increase in the number of cases.

“From there, we would be able to identify the locations,” said Mohd Noor when met during the Covid-19 testing initiative at the Bestari Jaya hall, here yesterday.

He said the programme will continue in the upcoming weekend in Balakong and Pandan Indah.

“We hope that the public would come and get themselves screened,” he added.

The Selangor government has provided a total of RM6 million in allocation to hold mass Covid-19 screenings across the state to break the chain of infection.

The antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag) used throughout the testing operations is able to detect the virus within 30 minutes.

Those interested to take part in the initiative are advised to preregister via the SELangkah app or logging on to screening.selangkah.my.
