1.35 mln people in Selangor have received two doses of Covid-19 shots — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — A total of 1.35 million individuals in Selangor or 28.4 per cent of the state population, have completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as of today.

In a Facebook post today, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stated that a cumulative total of 4.68 million vaccine doses had been administered to the Selangor people via the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

An infographic shared on his post showed that 3.33 million people in Selangor, or 70.1 per cent of the state population, have received their first dose.

Amirudin said an additional 210,797 doses were delivered via the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax).

Earlier today, an infographic by the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) showed that the daily vaccination rate in the country stood at 468,526 yesterday.

Meanwhile, during his visit to the vaccination centre (PPV) in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) here, Amirudin said he is confident that 60 per cent of the state population can be fully vaccinated by the end of this month.

He said this is based on the state’s current vaccination rate, of which nearly 30 per cent of the state population have completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine under PICK and Selvax.

Based on the current rate, Amirudin said, 50 per cent of the Selangor population could be fully vaccinated within the next 20 days, and more than 50 or 60 per cent by the end of August.

“If it reaches 65 per cent, we will technically achieve herd immunity, yet we will not stop there and will immunise more people, especially foreigners.

“Beginning yesterday at the Federal and state (PPV) level, we have begun administering the vaccine to walk-ins who have not registered (for vaccination),” he said.

Amirudin had also asked Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Nor Azmie Diron to get community leaders to look out for unvaccinated residents in their respective areas to increase the number of vaccine recipients.

He said the state’s data showed that Klang and Gombak registered the lowest number of vaccine recipients, probably due to its residents getting their shots in Kuala Lumpur.

By the end of July, Selangor had administered more than 150,000 doses of vaccines a day, which had exceeded its July target of delivering 135,000 doses of vaccines a day.

The figure does not include the shots delivered through Selvax, which had recorded a 15,000 daily vaccination rate.
