82 pct of IPT students, over 91 pct of university staff fully vaccinated

SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — A total of 82 per cent of higher educational institutions (IPT) students have been fully vaccinated while that for university staff has exceeded 91 per cent, said the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).

Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad said he was confident that the IPT was now safe and recommended students who have not been vaccinated do so immediately.

“If they have not been vaccinated, it’s not because these IPT students did not apply (to be vaccinated), but it could be due to the system, which resulted in them having to wait for their turn.

“The offer letter (for entry to the IPT) is important as it will speed up their vaccination process where they can just go to any vaccination centre or health centre to get their vaccine jab,” he told reporters after attending the 2021 Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) All-Malaysia Student Representative Council Convention here yesterday.

The convention aims to act as a platform to instil new era leadership values and allow them to voice out ideas and views through debates and discussions involving 244 student council members from every UiTM branch.
