ALOR GAJAH, Nov 12 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari pays a visit to Melaka today to oversee Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) preparations for the upcoming state election.

The Menteri Besar’s schedule for the one-day visit is filled with various programmes and events until tonight.

Upon his arrival at around 12.30 noon earlier, Amirudin joined hundreds of congregants to perform the Friday prayer at Masjid Luqmanul Hakim in Sungai Petai, here.

Prior to that, a sermon titled ‘Pendidikan Anak-anak Tanggungjawab Ibu Bapa (Children’s Education a Parent’s Responsibility) was delivered by the Islamic Affairs assistant of Masjid Rembia, Khairil Azuan Azmi.

Amirudin had then proceeded to a ‘doa selamat’ ceremony hosted by former Alor Gajah District Education Office supervisor Safri Shafie at Jalan Alor Utama.

He then met with Rembia candidate Zamri Pakiri before attending a briefing session with PKR election machinery.

The Menteri Besar is scheduled to participate in the ‘Ngeteh Felda Bukit Senggeh’ hi-tea programme at a cafe in Asahan, here, at 5pm.

At night, Amirudin is expected to join a casual programme at Warung Pelita Kak Liza in Sempang Kerayong, here, and is slated to end his visit by meeting with Sungai Rambai candidate Farzana Hayani at Balai Raya Kampung Sebatu.

The Melaka state polls will be held on November 20, and early voting is scheduled for November 16.

The election was called following the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on October 4 after four state assemblymen withdrew their support for the chief minister.

Melaka consists of 28 constituencies with over 495,195 registered voters.
