RM2.2 bln revenue target achievable despite economic uncertainties, says MB

SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — Selangor can achieve its revenue target of RM2.2 billion this year despite facing various challenges, including the prolonged movement control order (MCO) period, says its Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said, as of yesterday, the state has reached 95 per cent of its revenue and that there is still time to achieve it until the end of the year.

“Based on our records, the least would be RM2.1 billion. However, we have the opportunity to achieve the same target as last year, which recorded a surplus of RM2.23 billion.

“The MCO period was extended this year, but we have already collected RM2 billion. I am confident that we would be able to meet the target,” he said when met after the Selangor Civil Servant Assembly at Dewan Jubli Perak, here, today.

Amirudin said the revenue collection would enable the state government to spend the money for its people during the recovery phase from the Covid-19 pandemic.

When asked about special financial assistance for the Selangor civil servants, Amirudin said he would announce the matter during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget on November 26.

He added that the amount would depend on the state’s revenue collection.
