US chipmaker Intel to invest RM30 bln in new facility in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — American chip manufacturer Intel Corporation will invest RM30 billion (US$7.10 billion) in a new, state-of-the-art facility in Malaysia, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) said yesterday.

In a media invitation, Mida said Intel Corporation had chosen Malaysia to expand manufacturing capabilities for its advanced semiconductor packaging technologies in the northern state of Penang.
