Haim Hilman appointed UUM vice-chancellor

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof Haim Hilman Abdullah has been appointed as the university’s new vice-chancellor, effective Monday (January 17).

Director-general of Higher Education Prof Datuk Husaini Omar in a statement today said the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) believed that with all his experience, knowledge and credibility, Haim Hilman is able to shoulder the responsibility.

He said the ministry believed that Haim Hilman was also able to elevate UUM position as a leading centre of excellence in learning and teaching, research, publication and consultancy in the field of management at home and abroad.

“The ministry also takes this opportunity to express its deepest appreciation and thanks to Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani for all his contributions and leadership in leading UUM for three years since 2018,” he said.

Haim Hilman, 49, holds a bachelor degree and masters degree in business administration from University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

He completed his PhD in strategic management from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2010.
