Exco: Selhac uniquely suited to business matching, networking for halal industry players

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 28 — The Selangor Halal International Conference (Selhac) will serve as a
a business matching platform for industry players to widen their network of cooperation.

State executive councillor for halal industries Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said 20 companies consisting of both domestic and international supermarkets, as well as export trade, will be involved in the session.

“Now it is quite difficult for users to obtain halal sources at the appropriate pricing, perhaps due to competition. So Selhac will certainly be the best place to meet both suppliers and users.

“Suppliers of halal products and users can sit together and discuss. If an agreement is reached, they can sign a memorandum of understanding to become strategic partners, which also serves to stimulate the industry,” he said to SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, Mohd Zawawi announced the state government will spend RM300,000 to ensure Selhac’s inaugural convention is a success. It will run for three days from March 4 to March 6, at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

He added the costs will cover advertising, preparing the locations, and other necessities. Selhac’s exhibitors will be charged rent between RM4,999 to RM24,000, depending on the size of their exhibition.

“With the Covid-19 pandemic, the cost may not be affordable as a whole, but InsyaAllah it is the best.

“Exhibitors can rent stalls as a commitment to ensure Selhac succeeds. Were we to give it to them for free, we are worried they will become careless, which puts the organizers at risk,” Mohd Zawawi said.

Running from 10am to 9.30pm, Selhac involves three components encompassing forums, expos, and business matching.

Exhibitors consist of three clusters, including food and beverage, health and pharmaceuticals, beauty and self-care, hospitality and tourism, as well as polite fashion and ingredients.
