MetMalaysia issues thunderstorms, heavy rain warning in Klang Valley, eight other states

SHAH ALAM, Feb 3 — The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas in Selangor until 6pm today.

In the warning issued at 4.05pm, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya are expected to see the wet weather.

It also warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Pahang, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak.

The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to take place for over an hour.

A thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued.
