Storm, rain warnings for Selangor, other states until night today

SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong wind warning to Sepang and Kuala Langat districts for tonight.

In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia said the bad weather is also expected to occur in Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau) and Sabah (Beaufort, Keningau and Papar).

The agency also forecasted similar situations for the Sarawak districts of Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.

The warning was issued at 6pm today, with the thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong wind expected to last until 9pm on the same day.

“The warning was issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, which is expected to occur over the one-hour duration.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning, which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” said MetMalaysia.
