SHAH ALAM, Feb 25 — A 6.1-magnitude earthquake rocked northern Sumatra in Indonesia this morning.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the incident occurred at 9.39am, causing tremors in several states in west Peninsular, including Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
However, no tsunami alert was issued.
The quake occurred 79 kilometres northwest of Payakumbuh, Indonesia, with a depth of 10 kilometres.
