Thunderstorms, heavy rain warning in five Selangor districts

SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong wind warning to five districts in Selangor for this evening.

In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia said the bad weather is expected to occur in Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

The agency also forecasted similar situations for Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

The warning was issued at 2pm today, with the thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong wind expected to last until 7pm on the same day.

Also, Perlis and several areas in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sabah are also expected to experience similar bad weather until 5pm today.

“The warning was issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, which is expected to occur over the one-hour duration.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning, which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” said MetMalaysia.
