Four Selangor districts to experience thunderstorms, heavy rains this evening

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — Four districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains from 2pm until 6pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a warning issued at 1.30pm on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling dan Hulu Langat.

The agency also issued warnings of similar weather for Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, in other states inclement weather is also predicted for parts of Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu)

It also expected bad weather will last until 5pm in Melaka, Johor, Pahang (Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan (Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin), Sarawak: Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis) and Limbang, Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan), Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau (Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
