SHAH ALAM, March 7 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds in Selangor is expected to continue until 10pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The department had on a Facebook post issued the warning to occur in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and eight other states.
The heavy downpour since earlier in the afternoon today had caused flash floods that inundated several areas in Selangor and the city centre.
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read, issued at 7pm.
Other states facing a similar weather condition include Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sabah.
