AMPANG, March 12 — The state government will increase the supply of chickens sold under the Jualan Ehsan Prihatin Rakyat programme to 1,000, following high demand from the public.

State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said previously only 500 chickens were provided at the sales locations.

“Given the high demand for chickens, we will increase the supply from 500 to 1,000 at each location.

“The operating hours will now depend on customers’ response. We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to buy essential items at cheaper prices,” he told Selangorkini today.

Commenting on the sales programme in Pandan Indah constituency today, he said the response received was very encouraging.

He said the public had started queuing at the location along Jalan Pandan 8, Pandan Jaya since 9am even though the stalls were opened at 10am.

“Residents here have really taken advantage of this opportunity as the items sold is cheaper than the market price. Also, the place is strategically located.

“Also to ease the burden of customers from low-income groups, the constituency service centre provided RM10 vouchers to the first 200 visitors,” he said.

Izham who is also Pandan Indah state assemblyman said the same programme was also held in Kampung Melayu Subang, Subang and Jalan Permai 2, Tasik Permai, today.

The programme launched on February 27 until Hari Raya Aidilfitri, sells essential items at cheaper prices, especially chicken, chicken eggs, meat and fish.

It will continue tomorrow at Jalan GP2A in Gombak Permai, Dewan Beringin in Taman Seri Gombak and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) field.
