Selangor FC President’s Cup player passes away, MB offers condolences

SHAH ALAM, May 26 — Selangor FC 2022 President’s Cup squad striker Muhammad Husni Idrus passed away last night.

An announcement of his death was shared by Selangor FC on its Facebook page, which also offered its condolences to the player’s family and prayed for his soul.

The state football club also asked all parties to be sensitive when sharing news of Muhammad Husni’s death and to respect his family’s privacy.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), in a separate statement, informed that the 21-year-old player had played in the President’s Cup match against JDT III yesterday afternoon before the incident.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Facebook expressed his condolences to the family of Muhammad Husni, his teammates and Selangor FC supporters.

Amirudin, who is also the Sungai Tua state assemblyman, said that the late Muhammad Husni was a resident of Kampung Sungai Kertas in the Sungai Tua state constituency.

“May the soul of the late Muhammad Husni receive blessings and be placed among the faithful,” he said.

According to a Berita RTM report, the player collapsed in a restaurant, before being rushed to a hospital.
