Hulu Selangor to see strong weather until tonight — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, June 13 — Hulu Selangor district is expected to undergo heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement issued at 5.55pm, the agency said the strong weather is also expected to affect Melaka, Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu and Tanah Merah), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, Bentong, Kuantan, Bera and Pekan).

“Other states and territories include Negeri Sembilan (Port Dickson), Johor (Mersing), Sarawak: Miri (Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang as well as Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom and Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Tuaran).

“The inclement weather is expected to persist until 9pm,” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
