MetMalaysia: Most of Selangor to experience bad weather until early evening

SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Six Selangor districts will experience strong winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts it will last until early evening today.

In a statement issued at 12.50pm, the agency said Selangor’s affected districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

The weather will persist until 5pm.

“Other states and localities include the whole of Perlis, Melaka and Putrajaya,” it said.

The agency also forecasted similar weather patterns for Kedah (Langkawi), Perak (Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
