AMPANG, June 20 — The Selangor government has this year allocated RM2.04 million for school repairs assistance in the Hulu Langat district.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government’s commitment to helping enhance educational institutions was shown by its support to 77 schools in the district.
“Assistance this time is given to the sekolah agama rakyat, sekolah kebangsaan (SK) and sekolah menengah kebangsaan in the district, while Tamil and Chinese schools will be implemented at another time.
“We pay close attention to educational institutions because we feel it determines the fate of future generations,” said Amirudin when met after handing over the Muassasah Haj incentives to 24 future pilgrims in Hulu Langat and the school aid at the Al-Azim Mosque, Pandan Indah, here yesterday.
Also present were Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek, state executive councillor for agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim and state executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.
Meanwhile, president of SK Lembah Keramat’s Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) Dato ‘Seri Zainol Abidin Mohamed said he did not expect the Menteri Besar’s office to approve the aid requested two months ago.
He said that the funds will be used to implement programmes that would assist around 1,400 students at the school.
“Two years ago, many students had dropped out because they studied online due to the movement control order. So we want to do programmes such as talks for them.
“Running the programme would certainly require additional funding. Therefore, I appreciate the fast contribution from the state government,” he added.
