State allocates RM1.2 mln to overcome flash floods in Kajang

SHAH ALAM, June 7 — The construction of flood retaining walls or concrete bunds on the banks of Sungai Langat is expected to solve the flash floods problem in residential areas around Jalan Reko, Kajang.

The project with an allocation of RM1.2 million is being implemented in four areas at Taman Sri Langat, Taman Mahkota, Taman Pasir Mas and Taman Bangi, reported Sinar Harian.

According to Kajang state assemblyman Hee Loy Sian, construction in three areas has been completed while the project in Taman Bangi is expected to be completed by the middle of this month.

“We built flood retaining walls in the four areas at Taman Sri Langat, Taman Mahkota, Taman Pasir Mas and Taman Bangi to solve the flash floods problem in Jalan Reko because water overflowed from Sungai Langat.

“The fourth project in Taman Bangi, which cost RM350,000 with allocation from the state government, is expected to be completed on June 15,” he said.
