Do early checks to screen for breast, colon cancers

SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The public is encouraged to take part in the Selangor free health screening programme, which could aid in identifying numerous diseases including cancer that developed due to uncontrolled cell growth, says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The state executive councillor for public health said that cancers are serious health conditions when the cells interfere with the body’s regular processes and show symptoms.

“Come and get early screening under the free Selangor Saring programme.

“Registration is free and you can register through the SELangkah application,” she said on Facebook.

According to an infographic shared by Dr Siti Mariah, the three types of cancer that affects women more are namely breast cancer with 33.9 per cent, colon (10.7 per cent) and cervical (6.2 per cent).

The most common cancers in men are colon (16.9 per cent), lung (14.9 per cent), prostate (8.1 per cent).

The Selangor Saring programme will be continued in Petaling on July 24 to assist persons who are at risk in identifying chronic diseases.
