SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — Selangor has allocated an additional RM10 million funds for its Jualan Ehsan Rakyat initiative, which is a food intervention programme introduced to alleviate the peoples’ burden due to the rising cost of goods.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the increased allocation during the Ambang Merdeka programme in conjunction with the National Day celebration, held at Dataran Kemerdekaan, here last night.
“We are aware that the people are affected by inflation, economic issues sparked burning the Covid-19 pandemic, and the issue of the supply network of nations impacted by the conflict in Russia and Ukraine.
“The price of goods had increased and the state government will allocate an additional RM10 million to subsidise the price of goods through the Jualan Ehsan initiative,” he said.
The initiative managed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) focuses on six basic items, namely chicken, beef, fish, chicken eggs, rice and cooking oil, which are discounted at 30 per cent from the market price.
The Jualan Ehsan Rakyat programme will continue to be held until the end of the year across the state.
