Thailand to host Apec Health Week

BANGKOK, Aug 21 — Thailand is to host “Apec Health Week” starting Monday, (Aug 22), a platform for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) economies to join forces in attaining public health and economic balances in a bid to move toward sustainable and inclusive economic recovery.

Health ministers from 21 Apec economies will be attending the meeting that will wrap up on Aug 26.

Deputy secretary-general to the Prime Minister and acting government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri said Thailand will host the 12th High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy (HLMHE) under the theme: “Open to Partnership. Connect with the World. Balance Health and the Economy”.

The event will be an opportunity for Thailand to showcase its medical and public health capacity.

Anucha disclosed that Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayuth Chan o-cha expressed confidence in Thailand’s capability to host various meetings and events under the APEC framework, including the “Apec Health Week”.

Prayuth also thanked all concerned agencies for supporting and organizing various meetings under the Apec framework which fits the country’s honour as Apec host.
