MB encourages people to report potholes on Twitter

SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari encourages the people in Selangor to report road damage such as potholes in their communities using Twitter.

He said people only need to send out a picture along with their complaint using the hashtags #infrasel #daerah #namajalan.

“The process of reporting road damage on state roads in Selangor has been simplified by just using hashtags on Twitter.

“Complaints will be automatically filtered and checked before the repair process is carried out,” he said on Twitter yesterday.

On August 11, Selgem Sdn Bhd (Selgem) expanded its smart road asset management system that started operation earlier this year to cover all local authorities in the state.

The system developed by local experts was launched by Amirudin on March 16. It integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with light detection and ranging (Lidar) system technology.

It is also equipped with smart drones and 360° camera coverage to detect road damage, such as potholes, with an automatic and digitalised workflow as well as a complaint process.
