KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 13 — A total of 104 abandoned housing projects under the jurisdiction of 11 local councils in Selangor have been identified, as of now.
State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the highest number of abandoned projects is located in areas under the Kuala Langat Municipal Council, with 31 projects.
This is followed by the Klang Municipal Council (29), the Kajang Municipal Council (13), the Selayang Municipal Council (eight), the Shah Alam City Centre (six), as well as five projects in the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council and the Sepang Municipal Council, respectively.
Meanwhile, four abandoned housing projects are situated in Kuala Selangor Municipal Council areas, and one each in the Petaling Jaya City Council and the Sabak Bernam District Council areas.
“The longest abandoned project dates to 1994, and the second-longest was the one in Taman Sungai Yu Indah, which has been deserted since 1996 but finally completed this year,” she said.
Rodziah was speaking after the key handover ceremony to Taman Sungai Yu Indah low-cost homeowners, here yesterday.
She added a press conference to provide details on the abandoned house issue will be held in the nearest future.
