SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — More than 500 shoppers seized the opportunity to purchase affordable goods and produce at the price of RM5 during the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat sale di Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam, here last week.

The event held in conjunction with the state-level 65th National Day celebration and organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has successfully reached its target with a total sales of RM35,000.

PKPS informed that all its products were sold out in just three hours after the programme was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The state agricultural agency said it had brought 2,000 chickens, as well as 1,000 units of rice, eggs, fish and meat.

“Among the hot items that were sold out early are cooking oil and eggs. All items were sold at a price of only RM5 except for cooking oil which is sold at RM10,” he told Selangorkini.

Earlier, PKPS had announced that the sale includes chicken, fish, imported beef, grade B chicken eggs, and five kg bags of rice.

Since December last year, the corporation has been conducting affordable basic necessities sales as part of efforts to reduce the public’s burden in light of rising living costs.

On July 25, state executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based Industry Izham Hashim said over 80,000 people have since benefitted from the programme.
