Selangor eyeing RM1 bln transaction value from SAS 2022

SUBANG, Sept 8 — The Selangor state government expects to secure a total of RM1 billion worth of potential transactions through 24 memoranda of understanding, encompassing areas such as services, manufacturing and electric aircraft, during the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2022.

Selangor state executive councillor for investment, industry and trade, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said last year’s SAS saw 13 MoUs worth RM100 million signed.

“As of now, RM800 million worth of transactions have been signed and we hope that by the end of the event, the number will reach RM1 billion,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the event here today.

The three-day SAS 2022 was officiated by Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, accompanied by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

The event was organised by Invest Selangor as a networking platform for aerospace industry players, especially the business and general aviation players, to re-energise their business in the region.

The 2022 installation has attracted strong local representation as well as international players from Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Teng said the SAS 2022 houses 40 static aircraft displays, adding that 64 exhibitors are participating in the event this year.

He said the annual event will be opened to the public on the third day for free, with a total of 10,000 visitors having registered as of this morning.
