State’s heart treatment scheme offers up to RM50,000 financial aid

SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — Heart patients burdened with high medical costs are welcome to apply for the state government’s Heart Treatment Scheme (Skim Peduli Jantung), which offers financial aid worth up to RM50,000.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said patients from the B40 and M40 groups with a maximum income limit of RM8,000 per month who are Malaysian citizens and born or residents in Selangor for 10 years are eligible to apply.

Applications need to be made through Selcare Management Sdn Bhd (Selcare) to get a letter of guarantee (GL) for treatment at the National Heart Institute.

The state government has allocated RM10 million for the programme that is jointly funded with Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

Since its launch in 2018, a total of 257 patients have received benefits from the scheme involving a cost of RM4.03 million.
