Sufficient Sarawak police personnel to face possibility of floods during GE15

KUCHING, Oct 13 — Sarawak Police have sufficient personnel to deal with the possibility of the state being hit by monsoon floods during the 15th general election (GE15).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the help of personnel from outside Sarawak is also not needed for the time being.

“Whatever it is, we are always ready to face any circumstances. We have been given the responsibility of handling GE15 and the Monsoon season and we will do our best.

“We can manage, (without reinforcements), we have enough manpower,” he told reporters after attending a Hi-Tea ceremony with the media at the Sarawak Police Contingent (IPK) Headquarters here today.

Earlier, Mohd Azman was reported to have said that a total of 7,063 personnel of the Sarawak Police are preparing for GE15.

He said his team will also use the experience gained during the Sarawak State Election last year for the purpose of assigning duties to personnel.

On October 10, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament to pave the way for GE15 to be held.

The Election Commission will hold a special meeting to discuss and determine the important dates of GE15 on October 20.
