Anwar leading Harapan to ensure victory against traitor

SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has kept his promise to contest a seat currently held by a “traitor” of the coalition, which would help the party win Perak.

Facing a tough four-corner battle, the former deputy prime minister will battle against incumbent Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu from Perikatan Nasional.

Ahmad Faizal won the seat in 2018 on the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) ticket in 2018 before he left Harapan in February 2020 following the political unrest from the Sheraton Move.

Other contenders for the Tambun parliamentary seat are Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Abdul Rahim Tahir from Pejuang.

Aside from Anwar, another Harapan candidate who will face a tough challenge is Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, who will contest against incumbent Bagan Datuk MP and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Meanwhile, in Larut, Harapan’s candidate Zolkharnain Abidin will fight for the parliament seat against Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin from Perikatan Nasional (PN). Two other candidates are Mohd Shafiq Fadhly Mahmud from BN and Auzaie Fadzlan Shahidi (Pejuang).

In Pasir Salak, Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz, the son of a former Kelantan Menteri Besar, is to contest against Khairul Azwan Harun (BN), Jamaluddin Yahya (PN) and Zairol Hizam Zakaria (Pejuang).
