GE15: Anwar calls on the people to rise, reject failed leaders, ensure Malaysia is stable again

By Faizal Nazaruddin

SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the people to rise and reject leaders who have failed to govern the country, affected many and causing them to lose their income sources.

The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chairman said the ongoing 15th general election (GE15) is the time where the people get to decide their fate, ensuring the country returns to stability.

“I want to remind the people to make wise choices in determining their fate for the next five years and also for the future.

“Harapan is the only coalition that really works and fights for the hearts of the people,” he said during a ceramah with Tambun residents yesterday, which was broadcasted live on social media.

The Harapan parliamentary candidate for the Tambun parliamentary seat added the people are no longer willing to go through Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration, who failed to provide sustainable economic policies during the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

“The number of infections and deaths continued to increase, even with MCO in place. During that time, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had the opportunity to change to a better economic system and policies, but did not do so,” he said.

According to Anwar, PN’s biggest failure was appointing 70 cabinet ministers along with several special ambassadors, even as the people suffered from a loss of employment and sources of income, so much so they had to raise white flags in front of their homes during the MCO period.

“I also would like to emphasise that this country does not need ustaz leaders with petty thinking. One good example is the Gunung Semanggol PAS leader, who slandered me,” he said.

Earlier on, Anwar’s six-day campaign has been well received, as many attended each of his talks to hear for themselves the explanations and offerings from Harapan.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat president previously visited various places, including the Jelajah Mega Harapan in Johor on November 9, meeting students in Lembah Pantaiand local residents of Malacca and Negeri Sembilan (November 7).

In Lembah Pantai yesterday, Anwar’s firmness on corruption issues was welcomed by students who did not want it to continue and later become a cancer to the nation.

He said Harapan is the most resolute and vocal coalition against corruption and its determination and commitment to tackling the problem has never wavered.

In addition, Anwar also called on voters to support Harapan’s candidate Mazlee Malik for the Simpang Renggam parliamentary seat, who excelled in his duties when he served as education minister previously.
