IPOH, Nov 5 — PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is in a four-cornered fight for the Tambun parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election.
Anwar, who is Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) prime minister candidate, faces Tambun Umno division chief Datuk Aminuddin Md. Hanafiah, who is contesting as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate; Abdul Rahim Tahir of Pejuang and incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Anwar arrived at the nomination centre at Dewan Sri Kledang, Ipoh Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Meru at 8.58am while Aminuddin and Ahmad Faizal arrived at 8.50am and 9am respectively.
At 10.35 am, Tambun returning officer Datuk Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Hanip announced the candidates for the Tambun parliamentary seat.
The nomination process was incident-free, with the police providing tight security.
In GE14, Ahmad Faizal, who contested under the PH ticket, polled 38,661 votes to beat two other candidates from BN and PAS to win with a majority of 5,320 votes.
