GE15: Harapan Hulu Selangor candidate takes the issue of employment, bankruptcy among young people seriously

HULU SELANGOR, Nov 10 — Pakatan Harapan’s parliamentary candidate for Hulu Selangor in the ongoing 15th general election (GE15) believes the issue of employment among young people needs to be taken seriously.

Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan said youths require the right opportunity, training and guidance, to attain suitable jobs.

“There are over 5,000 factories in Hulu Selangor, but most of them employ foreigners on grounds that Malaysians, especially youths, are lazy. However, in actual fact, they are not given what they deserve.

“If given the right guidance and training, I think the perception of our youths being lazy will no longer exist,” he said this during his group speech, at the Sungai Choh Bilik Gerakan, earlier today.

In addition, Dr Sathia said the issue of bankruptcy due to usage of credit cards involving youths should not be ignored.

He suggested a system be created to provide financial management knowledge for them.

“I once met a group of young people who said they obtained credit cards, but are now bankrupt. Whose fault is it? Is it the youths’ fault? Young people do not really know how to use credit cards.

“We need to create a system that provides guidance on what to borrow and what not to borrow, so that youths are financially literate. This is very important,” Dr Sathia said.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat veteran member since 2008 is facing a six-cornered fight against Datuk T Mohan from Barisan Nasional (BN), Mohd Hasnizan Harun from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Harumaini Omar from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, Haniza Talha from Parti Bangsa Malaysia, and Independent candidate Azizan Zakaria.

Meanwhile, Harapan Shah Alam candidate Azli Yusof is unfazed when meeting people, due to his experience as a member of Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

He promised to continue approaching the residents to listen to their grouses and problems.

“Even though I am a new candidate, I do not feel awkward as most residents here know me and it gives me the opportunity to listen to their problems.

“I am confident (of winning) but will still work hard to get close to as many people as possible, so they continue to be comfortable (with me),” he told SelangorKini.

Azli, who is Selangor Parti Amanah Negara deputy chairman, is competing against Dr Afif Bahardin from PN, Isham Jalil from BN, and Rafique Rashid from Pejuang in GE15.
