GE15: Saipolyazan confident in wooing Sungai Besar voters

By Alang Bendahara

SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — Despite being a newcomer to politics, Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate Saipolyazan M Yusop has wasted no time in making strides in winning the hearts of P.093 Sungai Besar voters.

The 52-year-old is among the seven candidates making their political debut in the 15th general election (GE15), unveiled by the president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Rafizi Ramli on October 26.

Saipolyazan, who is addressed as Tuan Haji by his campaigners, even had his long first name halved into Saipol Yazan and embroidered on his shirt, to make it easier for his voters to remember.

The former chief executive officer (CEO) of Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has also put his corporate and management background to good use by employing a harmonic political campaigning style.

“We do not provoke or belittle the other candidates or spread hatred. Instead, we (have) highlighted what Harapan has to offer to the people during our campaigning.

“With the soon-to-be-launched plan (tawaran) for the people in Sungai Besar and the engagement sessions I made from all the walkabout, visits and on social media throughout these few days, I am confident the voters will vote for us.

“The results from our campaigning have been positive, even among the Undi18 young voters, and the people have shown that they are getting tired of the three changes of Prime Minister since the last GE, so based on this momentum we are sure they will vote for a stable government through Harapan,” he said during his walkabout to meet voters in Sekinchan town on November 8.
