GE15: The success of Selangor’s governance can help advance the country — MB

By Zareef Muzammil

GOMBAK, Nov 8 — The experience of governing Selangor well since 2018 prompts Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to run for the Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).

Following that, the Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate is determined to bring his four years of experience to Putrajaya albeit admitting that it will not be an easy task.

“I have the opportunity to look after the state and I have done well in Selangor. (I want to) continue (that) in parliament due to numerous new rules and responsibilities (that need to be made).

“We have done something that no one else could have done. We could provide free insurance to six million people after learning the lessons from Covid-19 and the flood at the end of last year,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking about the matter in his speech at Laksamana B Apartment, here last night.

The Selangor Harapan chairman said that many problems were detected during the Covid-19 pandemic, which the current state administration managed to deal with comprehensively.

“So, good administration is not easy because this state is diverse and some are even from abroad. During the pandemic, we had to manage the international community and were able to provide food baskets.

“We encountered many problems then, but with firm and creative leadership, we were able to overcome them effectively without blaming others,” he said.

Amirudin is contesting to defend the seat won by Harapan in 2018 before the incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali switched his support.

He will contest against Azmin who will be competing on the Perikatan Nasional ticket, Megat Zulkarnain Omardin from Barisan Nasional, Jamaludin Mohd Tahir from Pejuang and independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.
