Klang District, Land Office issues alert of rising sea levels, urges residents to be prepared

SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — The Klang District and Land Office is expecting rising water levels today, due to the ongoing heavy rainfall.

In a Facebook post, it cited the National Hydrography Centre’s sea level forecast, which predicted it will reach 4.74 metres, starting at 7.40pm at Port Klang.

“The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms in several places later this evening in Klang, as well as rainfall in one or two places in the night.

“Always be prepared and vigilant of your surroundings. Report any instances of flood disasters to the Klang District disaster communications line,” said the office.

Yesterday late afternoon saw flash floods affect several parts of Klang and Shah Alam, which the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department attributed to heavy rains and clogged drains.
